Democratic system of governance is not good for Papua New Guinea

Is democratic system of governance being good for development Papua New Guinea?  Or, Papua New Guinea’s own transitional chief system of Governance, which largely based on guided system of governance is good for the development of Papua New Guinea?

Papua New Guinea is in the southwestern Pacific region. It covers the eastern half of New Guinea and its offshore islands. It stands as a leading nation of her massive rich cultural and biological diversity with her untouched beaches and coral reefs.  No country beats Papua New Guinea on her record.

A country of 8 million population of diversified tribal social and cultural background, scattered in many villages in rugged mountains terrains arose the nation with over 800+ languages.

The idea of bringing those divided tribal villages into Regions/Districts was achieved through the installation of western democratic system of governance by western powers to spread their influence.

In the aim to take control, they deliberately overlooking the elements that holds the foundation of those villages since its establishment many years ago.

The establishment of western democratic system of government is not fitting well with the Papua New Guinea traditional.

Papua New Guinea is not evolving from the elements of her social and cultural foundation, which have given meaning to its survival throughout generations.
Consequently, the country is struggling to develop economically and socially.

The country is richly blessed with natural resources yet it’s not translating into development of people lives.  It is still running around the circle and finding difficult to become a robust society where everyone is equally served.

Chief system of governance- traditionally guided system of governance
The entire village hamlets were divided thus isolated from each other. It was not managed through free and open democratic system of governance, but by the rule of traditionally guided system of governance or a chief system of governance.

The social structure was in order which people lived and operate without fear of social disorder. Under the rule of controlled system of traditional law, the social disorder was minimal. The village hamlets were rule by Chiefs, and the community were subject to Leaders, who want nothings else but peace and order in the community.

The leaders were only found through the biological line/bloodline. They were not greedy or selfish people. They rule only for the well-being of the community.
For example: If a pig is killed by the Leader, he distributes it to the entire community, or someone looks after a big pig, it’s belonged to the community and not for one person, thus everyone shares the resources. In other words, everyone was working for the benefits of entire community.

In Manama Island in Madang Province, the villages were managed by Kukurai-the Chief of the village.  If the Kukurai wants a pig, he gets it from one of the community members. They bring it to him, but he will not eat it by himself. He kills it and distribute to everyone in the community. This notion is not working under the free & open democratic system of governance in Papua New Guinea. The resources from many mining industries in the country is not shared equally among the communities. Only greedy politicians and leaders are eating the best part and entire country is suffering.

The guided system of governance has social structures.  They had their own arms force - tribal warriors, traditionally certified medical healers, the farmers, there were economic activity like exchange of barter system of trade etc.

The social structure is guided by traditional laws. For example: If another man has sexual affairs with a married woman, the man is put to death.  As a result, it brings respect to marriage homes and reduce law and order issues.  Stealing, adultery and fornication (etc.) are forbidden thing in a controlled society. The traditional laws like no stealing, no adultery [etc.] is common throughout the country.

If anyone breaks the rule set by the Chief is summoned to appear before the Council of chiefs.  He or she is punished for their wrongdoing.

Free & open Democratic system of governance
The introduction of democratic system of governance is foreign ideology, implanted in the traditionally functioning system.  This system is not suitable for country like Papua New Guinea. It is not helping the nation's development.

For example: Election of political leader is driven by material power and the true traditional leaders are suppressed by material power, thus many good leaders are not born.

The chief system of governance was based on common good and well-being of the people.  While free and open democratic system of government is full of greed, self-fish leaders who work for themselves thus accumulate wealth to stay on power.

Free and open democratic system of governance confused the way Papua New Guinea is developing.  Hence, Papua New Guinea needs to review what best free and open democratic system of governance can offer and what traditional system of government can offer.

It not too later or too early, the country must not struggle to work through the thick jungle of free & open democratic system of governance. The nation needs to manage system where all our development progress is guided through. Otherwise, Papua New Guinea will run within the same cycle until the country is destroyed.

Many Papua new Guineans believes that a guided democratic system of governance will be better for Papua New Guinea’s development aspiration.

For example: Betelnut sales in Papua New Guinea requires a guided system of governance.  Now, everyone has right to do informal business wherever they want to, thus buai is littering the cities and town, which is an eye sore.

The Risie of China in the Pacific.

Will China gets her root in the Pacific Island Nations. The simple answer to this question is Yes!

Papua New Guinea , An Australia's colony thus has long history of friendship at government to government, friends to friends and in many other forms.

The relationship between two countries is slowly getting weak. Many Papua New Guineans starting to think that Australia is not a true friend.

For example; Papua New Guineans getting Australian Visa is like going to hell. The Australia gives first choice to other Pacific Islanders when it comes to fruit picking jobs, NRL recruitments and many more.

The people of Papua New Guineans feel that Australia has mistreated them. During the colonial era, they were racist to locals, they stop them eating or drinking with them. They even told Papua New Guineans that they will not grow rice and apple, a complete lie.

The government of Australia have pumped millions of dollar in Papua New Guinea in form of development aid. However, huge share of this money have created employment opportunity for Australians who works as Advisors/Consultants on various development programs on high fees. As a result, lots of Australian dollar is gone back to Australia.

In early days, Western countries like Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, France and USA explored almost all the African countries. After they have explored them, they grabbed their lands, mistreated the natives of the lands, they suppressed and used them for cheap labor.

One example of land grab is Australians -white people who have arrived on Australia soil have stolen the land belongs to the natives people of Australian. Adding to this they have stolen their generations. The former Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rude has appologized to the stolen generation. Today, Australia is divided nation - the native and white.

The western people's  effort to extend their influence, they were racist, bully in many forms and install constitution that will suit their own interest. The constitution which they have installed in early days are directly serving their own interest.

On the other hand, Chinese have explored other countries but did not grab their lands, bully, racist and institute their laws into those countries where they had step their foots. They have respected their lands, resources and the people they conduct business with them.

The Chinese development is based on traditional laws and respect the natives of the lands. They married the natives, live with them. They eat what they eat, live the same style of living, share same values than the Europeans.

Today's Chinese are penetrating the African Nations once explored by western countries. The China's rise is base on respect, living the same way of life, and eating, doing thing that the natives are doing. The China has no history of bullying, land grabbing, racist etc. This place them above Western countries so their dream to rise above western World is sure to happen.

On other end, westren powers will try to counter the China's rise but China will defeat them because the experience, the history is written in the hearts and minds of the native people which has been passed on to generations.

So our question of China deeping her feet in the Pacific Island Nations is sure to happen and its happening.

This year November, prior to one day 2018 APEC meeting in Papua New Guinea, Chinese President will do a state visit for the first time. He will sleep on Papua New Guinea soil while the Vice President of USA attend the meeting on fly in, fly out from Australia, which is not fitting the Spirit of Papua New Guineans way of life.

The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Hon. Peter O'Neill have invited Prime Minister of Fiji to meet the Chinese President during the State visit, this is a signal that Pacific Island Nations are on the road to depend their friendship with China.

USA Vice President Fly In & Out of PNG 2018 APEC Meeting is NOT Fitting The True Spirit of Melanesian Way.

Papua New Guinea have spent millions of kina preparing to host APEC World Leaders meeting in November 2018 in her  Nation's Capital-Port Moresby.

Papua New Guinea will be the first Pacific Island Nations to host the World level of Leaders meeting and It will go down the history book of Papua New Guinea and Pacific Island Nations.

The country, her people and the Leaders are proud to host this event and looking forward  to have it successfully.

Many of the Leaders will for the first time step their foots on Papua New Guinea soil and their foots prints will remain forever.

The Presidents of World Power like China, Russia, USA (Vice President) are amongst the  Very Important Guests.

The USA President will be well represented by  his Vice President. It's unfortunate for the hosting country to miss the opportunity to have the Head of USA but the country is honor to have the Vice President.

Its now official as per social and mainstream media that the Vice President will stay in Australia during the course of the APEC meeting is an act of co-host which is not fitting well with the host Spirit of Melanesian Culture.

The country is yet to be informed by relevant authorities whether Australia government was asked to co-host 2018 APEC PNG meeting. The general public sentiment of Australia co-hosting the 2018 APEC meeting is econmic bully and disrespectful to a hosting nation.

In Melanesian culture a Visitor to our home is welcomed in true friendship way and we do not ask him or her to stay with other person or another men's village. They come and stay with us, eat what we eat, share that moment of true friendship  and if war broke open, we die together and this is a tru Melanesian Way.  It's a insult to a host when the Visitor to our home is taken away by another community.

However, President of China will be here one  day ahead of APEC Leaders meeting on a State Visit. He will sleep here on PNG soil, eat and drink with people of Papua New Guinea.

The great and powerful Leader of Russia will also be housed in Port Moresby and experience the true Spirit of the country's diversity culture and that inlcudes many World Leaders.
